Explanation of what this does for anyone confused!
Luigi Mangione has been locked up since December 2024, and he's been met with nothing but the violation of his rights every step of the way. Luigi's right to be treated humanely is constantly violated, as is his right to the presumption of innocence and a fair trial. Evidence is not being provided to his legal team, and he's being treated with prejudice by law enforcement.
Luigi is not a handsome face and a few jokes online. He is a real human being with real pain and real health issues. Luigi is a young man fighting for his life and the media is doing nothing but trying to sexualize him and make light of his situation.
Luigi has already lost so much to this, and although he remains resilient, it's important to remember that his circumstances can't possibly be good. It's also important to remember that if they can do it to Luigi, they can do it to more people, to your loved one, to you.

Suddenly remembering back to a conversation with some classmates in college, my first semester I think, and the topic was Star Wars, and the conversation turned to trying to list all of Darth Vader's crimes, and this one fucker refused to agree that Vader had committed genocide.
Now, putting aside his part in the Jedi Purge (which also constituted genocide but that's not where the conversation went), my counter to this was to point out that he did blow up an entire planet, and the millions of people on it. That was a pretty significant thing that happened. But this dude insisted that that didn't constitute genocide. And to be fair to the rest of the group they were all like ??? how does it not? But this guy was convinced, for some reason. (And he didn't change his tune when the Jedi Purge was brought up either.)
That's a whole planet and the vast majority of all Alderaanians in existence were killed, and those like Leia who survived by being off-world had to live with the collective trauma of having their people and their homeworld obliterated by a fascist dictatorship. Like, how do you not call that genocide? Why was this guy so adamant about defending Darth fucking Vader? I hadn't thought about this conversation in years but it still makes me smile with gritted teeth from just how dumbfounded I and those other people were lmao

My name is Hashem from Gaza. I am 32 years old and my wife, Samar, is 27 years old. We have a child born in the eighth month of pregnancy. His mother was premature because of my wife's fear of war. My large family consists of 8 members: my father, mother, four male brothers and 2 females. My father died in the war due to a lack of medicine in hospitals as a result of the fierce war on Gaza.
My story began when we were displaced from our home in northern Gaza in mid-October 2023 after a letter threatening eviction, and then the house was targeted and destroyed. Between this Exodus and the current fifth Exodus there are many stories and sufferings.
We now live in plastic tents, which are thermal ovens, which are not suitable for living and do not provide the minimum necessities of life, in addition to the spread of epidemics and diseases, which puts our lives in danger.
Through this campaign, we are trying to collect enough money to meet our needs and get us out of the Gaza Strip safely. We ask you to stand by us and protect us from this severe danger.

Fucking wild to be teaching about Rosa Parks at the same time as a trans woman in Florida does an act of civil disobedience to use a women's restroom in the state capitol
As far as I know, she is the first woman arrested bc of this law. The law requires that the trans person be warned to leave the bathroom by a state official, and then if they stay they are guilty of trespassing after a warning.
So like, me, my gf, others just piss and nobody asks or tells, but this young woman sent a statement about the law to over 100 FL lawmakers so they would know she was coming, the cops were ready for her, she brought a reporter and went in anyway and spent the night in a men's jail. She is out on bail, and is hoping this will inspire change of the law. But if found guilty, and the law is upheld as constitutional, then she could spend up to 60 days in a mens county jail.
