Medical Bill Support for Linda Tillery

August 8th, 2024 by Linda Tillery, Beneficiary

Greetings Dear GoFundMe community. It’s been quite a while since I’ve checked in so here’s an update on my activities. But first, let me thank all of you for your continued support. I couldn’t have made it this far without your contributions to this campaign. Now, I have a special request - I’m trying to finish the recording I began back in 2022. All was going well for a fall release then COVID struck. The American economy came to a grinding halt. Concert venues and night clubs shut down and I was moved into a senior care facility due to my complicated mix of health issues. The remaining funds for my recording were used to cover the cost of care and insurance copays. So now I want to finish that recording and need to raise $7000 to complete the project. *This includes additional studio time, mixing, mastering and distribution. It can be done and I’m asking you to help me complete what will be my first solo recording since “Secrets” in 1985. This CD, “Alabama Shoes” would also be an additional source of income. Give what you can. Here’s What Else I’ve Been Up To Last year at my 75th Birthday concert I was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by Freight and Salvage Coffeehouse of Berkeley, CA and this past March I was honored by SF Jazz as part of their month long tribute to local women artists in Jazz and Beyond. It was a spectacular evening as 20 of my musician colleagues were on hand to throw down some scintillating soul music. The Cultural Heritage Choir was also on the bill and in great form. (See new photos) Another bright moment was Olivia Travel’s 50th Anniversary was celebrated on two back to back cruises. The joy of being amongst Women’s Music’s brightest stars was off the charts. Upon returning home, I tested positive for COVID, took Plaxovid and recovered fairly quickly. On the health front: In July of last year I underwent a successful aortic valve replacement surgery. In March of this year I had a toe amputated and am due this fall to have a second valve replacement surgery (tricuspid valve) which will be followed by cataract surgery on both eyes. Hopefully that will be the last surgery for quite some time.” All the best - Linda Tillery

Linda Tillery is important to the women's music and women's festival community. Please donate if you can and if not at least check out some of her music.

there are high profile rapists and paedophiles getting less attention because y'all like bullying women for the most minor of things whenever the white boys of the internet tell you to. do one expose on neil gaiman i dare you

here's a list of celebrity domestic abusers, misogynists, rapists, sexual assaulters, harassers and abusers, child groomers, pedophiles, pedo apologists, rapists etc with allegations four years fresh at most to criticize in your 30 minute essay

Also the fucking president of the USA is a rapist. But nope, a woman being mean on Twitter is worse.

For the past few years conservatives have had a moral panic about young men not having as much sex as previous generations of men and liberals mocked them. Now the liberals are having the exact same moral panic but they instead place their focus on women and even girls(!!), accusing us of being "sex negative" and having an unrealised and repressed sexuality.

Conservatives try to appeal to men with promises of power and liberals to women with promises of empowerment; both are using the same blueprint in their plans because both are pursuing the exact same goal, preserving men's ever diminishing access to women's bodies.

HE was trying so hard to make himself look like the victim. And he was refusing to call the little girl's mother a MOTHER rather than parent. He shouldn't be allowed to make women and little girls uncomfortable by using the women's bathroom.

And by him using "parent" that is just another way of trying to erase women. Just like "birthing person", ect. He gives pedf vibes. Disgusting.

OK so this guy just literally made it clear that it's not even great for trans people to go to the gendered bathroom they identify with the most, even though they demand it themselves? Sometimes I'm just so fucking confused with these people. There's no winning with them.

Let’s talk about police violence against women.

greatly under-discussed… violence against the women they harass, violence against the women in their custody, violence against their partners and female family members… the “non-violent” ones that look the other way for the overtly-violent ones… the same ones that intimidate the partners/victims of the overtly-violent ones to keep them from pursuing justice… I think these sort of behaviors are likely more prevalent than we can even imagine…

police clearly dismisses womans calls for help against violent men until they end up dead and it all “oh how could we know”

A lil off-topic but also kinda related, the fact that jails/prisons don’t keep enough pads is such a ridiculous ‘oversight’ as to be considered, in my strong opinion, a form of intentional torture/violence, bc I must assume the lack of hygiene causes problems for those women unlucky enough to find themselves without (tho thankfully their fellow women are also often the types to totally help each other out with stuff like that when bastard men/police won’t…)

If rich assholes get to have hotel-prisons then carrying more than enough pads in every jail in our country should be shamefully simple, and it is.

And more topically, Black women are the victims of police violence, too by Mary-Elizabeth Murphy

Criticism of the police is not complete without looking at how they specifically target women for violence and abuse.

Kimberlé Crenshaw just released a book called SayHerName about police brutality against black women and girls, and also how that violence is ignored in comparison to black men and boys

Nasal sent Sally ride to space with 100 tampons for a week. And still prisons are not providing enough mentral pads. I mean i know they are penny pinching capitalists scumlords but holy human rights violation batman.

"Masculinity is rewarded" have you ever spoken to a transmasc or a butch or a tomboy or any masculine woman/person perceived as a woman. Have you ever spoken to a gnc transfem.

Masculinity is rewarded in men and shamed in women

They're doing Olympic-level flips to try and avoid the most basic of observations lmaoo

It's not just community that's important for women but specifically mixed age. I can change lightbulbs and filters for my grandmother, but her best friend just fell and broke her wrist because she has no one to do such things for her. I've offered my services in light of this event, which I hope she'll take me up on, but not every elderly woman has young people in her life to help with that. Child-free is great, but we need to encourage mixed age communities. Young people have a lot to learn from the elderly, and the elderly can greatly use the help of the young.

"asexuals have sex for their partner to enjoy!" Is honestly a weird thing to even say as a "defense" of asexuality because why does she need to force herself to have sex with someone when she lacks/have no interest in sex. You shouldn't do that for someone else's pleasure, do things that make you feel comfortable.

Example: while physically washing the dishes, you are mentally picturing yourself washing the dishes as if watching from someone else's point of view. While sitting on the bus, in your head you see yourself sitting there from an external point of view. Etc. It can last for a few seconds or longer.

Can you please share so we get a bigger sample size? thank you!

where can i even go to have conversations with women that don't involve endlessly dissecting male behaviour

like, girl, we been knew, men have sucky behaviour. probably because they are doing everything they can individually and as a class to keep power and to keep you under their thumb. ok? are we done with that now?

can we talk now about how the witch hunts were probably a strategic means of destroying the alternate society movements of the 1300s and 1400s because the leaders were often women, and these communities were about creating a society of equality between the sexes and communal decision making, and were about rejecting the feudal state and the church and other authoritarian structures? And how the feudal powers and the church clearly came to the conclusion that to control the population you can't let women get too powerful? And so they started a multi-century terrorism program that maimed and broke women and some men, stole their land and money, and destroyed women to the point it left some German villages with only two (2) women left in them, and how does a society come back from that level of terror? Can we talk about how European society has probably never recovered from this? & how they then exported the witch hunts to other areas of the world, North and South America, Africa?

a thing that made me start questioning liberal feminism was how they insist men are oppressed by the patriarchy too. its common sense in every other activist sphere that oppression requires an oppressor and oppressive systems exist because it benefits someone so why is misogyny any different? is it because we dont want to admit that men are the oppressors?

Only a man would be surprised by these results.

Are women victims of time poverty? Women allocate 34% of their time to unpaid caregiving services for household members—nearly double the 18% spent by men. When it comes to producing goods for their own final use, women spend 21% of their time compared to 13% for men. The NSO data points out that women continue to shoulder the bulk of unpaid household work and caregiving responsibilities.

By Kodoth Prabhakaran Nair 07 April 2025

Last year, the National Statistical Office (NSO) in New Delhi raised an important question in its Time Use Survey to understand how Indians, in both urban and rural areas, spend their time. The question was, “How do you spend your day?” The survey covered 454,192 individuals between January and December 2024, and the findings, released in February, reveal a striking reality— the extreme “time poverty” experienced by Indian women, especially in rural areas.

Time poverty refers to a situation in which an individual lacks adequate time to ensure their own well-being, whether due to paid or unpaid work. This may eventually lead to a loss of income. Viewed through a gender perspective, time poverty in India often manifests as women devoting disproportionate hours to unpaid household chores and caregiving, leaving them with little or no time for remunerative work or personal needs.

Time poverty and income poverty are interlinked. The former excludes Indian women from the formal economy and perpetuates gender inequality. In 2015, a global study estimated this exclusion represented a loss of $9 trillion to women in developing countries.

Anonymous asked:

Opinions on the huge flags people have in their rooms hangign on a wall? What do you think is the purpose of them? (Affirmation, attention, decor for vides etc) (open ended)

I'm assuming this is about pride flags and not other flags such as national flags but send another ask in if thats not what you meant

I used to have a building sized flag that was so big that it couldn't even be fully displayed on an entire wall. Not a pride flag though

I think I’m just going to have to accept that colonialism is genuinely trivial for most radblr users and people on this site. like imperialism is just a concept and racism is like…niche to y’all. genuinely.

I’ve seen how users here weaponize what’s happening to women in Afghanistan as proof of brown men’s beastly nature. And totally not coincidentally use the heroic efforts of white donors and celebrities to highlight how superior they clearly are to those barbaric middle-eastern men. Ignoring the violence your white supremacist governments enact on repeatedly raped and pillaged countries doesn’t do your feminism any favors. You’re not on our side if you don’t bother to even understand our problems and just moralize about how lamentably sad what women in Congo are going through and how terrible black men and brown men are.

I’m so over it.
