I think we should talk about Poor Things one more time. I've seen the takes that oh she is a female socialist pro sex work character and yeah, she is, at first. And then she becomes more and more disgusted and disenchanted with prostitution as the film goes on.
And I'm sorry but that scene when her and Max are talking about her prostitution and Max says something to the effect of "I'm not jealous that they enjoyed your body, I'm merely jealous of the time they got to spend with you." Made me fucking bawl.

Wow sexy. Sure makes me want to change my mind about the whole West 4B thing.
Men have created a society in which a woman has to be sexual or else not have her needs met. Do you think women want to have to put out in order to get a promotion or do you think they'd like to be promoted based on their work ethic and determination? Do you think women want to have sex in order to get the child support paid or do you think she'd rather the judge ordered child support just be paid because the judge ordered it? Do you think women who are desperate and broke want to be prostitutes or do you think that's an unfortunate last resort for a woman who has no other options? I can tell you right now that when I was a little girl, I never once said I want to be a hooker when I grow up. And yet, I found myself there regardless.
Do you think women want to have sex in order to be friends or do you think women would rather be valued based on who they are as a person?
To say that this is what women want when in fact, we've never wanted anything less is not only cruel, but stupid. The reality is, this is the world we live in and many of these things may not be accomplished by a woman through any other avenue than putting out and having sex. Because that's the way the patriarchy likes it and that's how they will keep it.
