i am a 19 year old gnc lesbian from Brasil, i go by she/he pronouns and i am studying veterinary medicine!

i am a psychological dog and gecko suntherian. i consider myself more of a dog than a gecko but both identities are important to me. i also have two hearttypes, which are domestic cattle and lilies of the valley, and i often get fictionflickers though i don't post too much about them.

this blog is a place for me to talk about my life and identity as i have been in the community since 2017? and have found very little positive nonhuman content and i want to make a difference around here!

West Papuan Indigenous people call for KitKat boycott over alleged ecocide
Thousands of acres of rainforest is being cleared to produce palm oil, used in popular NestlΓ© and MondelΔ“z brands

West Papua’s Indigenous people have called for a boycott of KitKat, Smarties and Aero chocolate, Oreo biscuits and Ritz crackers, and the cosmetics brands Pantene and Herbal Essences, over alleged ecocide in their territory.
All are products that contain palm oil and are made, say the campaigners, by companies that source the ingredient directly from West Papua, which has been under Indonesian control since 1963 and where thousands of acres of rainforest are being cleared for agriculture.
More than 90 West Papuan tribes, political organisations and religious groups have endorsed the call for a boycott, which they say should continue until the people of West Papua are given the right to self-determination.
Raki Ap, a spokesperson for the United Liberation Movement for West Papua, which is overseeing the call, said: β€œThese products are linked to human rights violations, in the first place, because West Papuans are being forced, with violence, to get off the land where they’ve lived for thousands of years, which has now resulted in ecocide.
β€œThis is a signal to the countries who are dealing with Indonesia, especially those in the Pacific region, to take notice of who they’re dealing with and how they are basically allowing Indonesia to continue the colonial project in West Papua, the human rights violations, and also ecocide.”
West PapuansΒ say more than 500,000Β of their people have been killed by the occupation in the past six decades, while millions of acres of their ancestral lands have been destroyed for corporate profit. Indonesia, already the world’s largest palm oil exporter, is now breaking ground in West Papua on the world’s biggest single palm oil plantation, as well as a sugar cane and biofuel plantation that will be the largest deforestation project ever launched.
β€œWest Papuans’, especially the ULMWP, position is very clear: we are a modern-day colony,” said Ap, speaking from the Netherlands.
β€œIndonesia hijacked the right to self-determination in 1962 when the Netherlands and Indonesia signed an agreement without any consultation in West Papua … After that, in 1969, there was a so-called referendum, which wasn’t fair, which wasn’t under international law, one man, one vote: just 1,025 men were handpicked at gunpoint to vote for integration to Indonesia.
β€œSo this is the foundation of the Indonesia’s colonial project. When we became part of Indonesia against our will, basically the genocide unfolded.”

the last time this happened to me, i just looked at my friend and told him "i am a furry and a therian. ask me anything" and we spent some 20 minutes walking behind the group as he asked me to explain everything from "is it sexual?" to "how did you find out?". it was a great opportunity to create another ally to the community.

it takes a lot of confidence and the right circumstances so this is not a 1 size fits all solution. but i do suggest you to think about the possibility if it is safe for you to do so!

I have a question for other Alterhumans/nonhumans. Do you consider yourself a person? I saw a post saying they think of animals as people and It made me curious.

i am a person but thats a me thing

i think most alter/nonhumans dont think of themselves as persons, and i also dont think of animals as persons. but i am A Person because i see myself as a human also!

as a tween i HATED the toy story series because seeing toys so distressed made me incredibly upset. when the last movie was in cinemas i was well into my teenage years and was dragged to watch it with my friends, i thought i would be able to handle it but i ended up sobbing so loud the whole movie i ruined it for the entire group.

idk how other folks feel about it but i do genuinely believe it made me engage with my POSIC-ness in a very very unhealthy way from a young age.

okay so today was my 1st day of uni. im studying veterinary medicine so i already knew the other students would like animals and stuff but they are SO petcoded it's blowing my mind.

  • newcomers in uni are called bixos/bixetes (silly way of saying "animal") in every major but for vet we are also called filhotes (meaning puppies/kittens/cubs/baby animals)
  • we have a given nickname and we have to wear an elastic band around our neck with our nicknames on it. these bands are called our collars
  • we'll be doing an activity later this week and we'll be sorted into teams. every team has a different animal mascot
  • veterans talked about tasting kibble in a trip to a kibble factory just to see how it tastes
  • EVERYTHING IS ANIMAL THEMED

This one time I was talking with my engineering teacher and I brought up how I've never been to the ocean before, and he said when he did he felt like the ocean was calling out to him and he was like "I hope you don't think I'm crazy" or something like that.
