Unlike her daughter, Margaret Livid Everdeen longed for love and motherhood was a need for her more than hunger, and to the same extent as survival.

Rip girl you would have loved tradwife tiktok. If she is the omega I bet she's the stereotypical one oh I bet she get teased to hell. You go girl

Clementine... I have an absolutely crazy idea that I'm going to develop.

It's Sunrise on the Reaping. It has to do with a Haymitch Abernathy, Burdock Everdeen, A/B/O, genderbend of one of them, tragic love that is really not mutual, tragic sisterhood, feel anger and my beloved... a meaningful name.

Damn it, it's going to be sad. And... could I share this with you? It's just going to be a pretty specific tragedy.

katniss: how do you think haymitch won the games?

peeta: he outsmarted the others

haymitch in his games: drinks poison water, falls asleep in a blueberry patch without attempting to cover his tracks, tries to pet a bunny during the countdown, makes an alarming number of bunny-related decisions in general

the fact that if coryo had made different choices, he could have just lived in 12 with the songbird he spends his life never getting over anyways, the games could have just faded out, haymitch and lenore dove could have had kids and lived happily ever after and katniss would have been everyone’s cousin or niece… and of course still ended up with peeta somehow because “this would have happened anyway”.

when katniss was talking about the reaping at the start of series, she stresses how it’s absolutely mandatory to attend unless you’re literally “at deaths door.” So i wonder what it was like, for haymitchs mother, an extremely pregnant teenage girl, who just managed to escape the reaping herself a year prior, to go into labor on that day. Having to worry about how you could potentially be punished if labor isn’t enough of an excuse to miss the reaping while going through the horrors of it; Knowing that two children from your community were once again ripped away, while you bring a new one into those horrors. And then, 16 years later, you have to watch as that same child marches off to his certain death, on the day of his birth.

fucking hell

I just realized that haymitch is an alcoholic. AN ALCOHOLIC. not a morphling addict. though he probably could have ended up one.

so anyway. alcohol.

alcohol is highly flammable. so much so that it evaporates quickly and leaves vapors in the air that ignite when exposed to heat. like a spark, or a flame.

a spark. "It's almost as bad as us with the berries."

fire is catching. "Almost but not quite."

who mentored Katniss? who laid down the groundwork for her eventual acts of rebellion? who planned the extraction in the 75th games around her? who fueled her fire in order to pull of a full-on political movement?

suzanne collins I am begging you to stop making every last detail of your books symbolic in some way holy shit my brain hurts

Funny thing, I didn’t expect Maysilee to say she hated the mockingjay pin. Especially with how much the pin ends up meaning for the revolution, I thought it’d be more on the lines of “oh yeah I love it and left it home to keep it safe” or “oh yeah it’s my sister’s now.” But she didn’t care.

And that brings me to my point. The mockingjay was not THE symbol. It was just what happened to be around at that point in time. It wasn’t something that had universal meaning behind it until the revolution gave it meaning. At the end of the day, the symbol wasn’t even that important, especially on its own. Yes, it had the jabberjays and singing lore attached to it but I’m sure so many items meant similar things. It became important because of the meaning associated to it by the people.
