I'm having a bit of an exhausting week and I really want to chat to the Red Dwarf fandom - hello everybody!!! Please tell me your favourite season of RD and why! You can be as descriptive as you wish (or you can just be like "idk I just like it" if that's true as well.) ^-^
I'll go first - my favourite is Season 5 because it just feels like the stakes of each episode are so much higher and it's super exciting! It's also lovely to see the sci fi concepts being expanded upon, I love Holly's design for this season (the way Hattie's screen has been edited makes her look a lot more ethereal imo), and I just adore seeing how close the crew became as a group. It's super lovely to me! A close contender would also be Season 4 because it's just straight up banger after banger imo, some of my absolute favourite episodes came from that season. :D
But yes, please tell me your opinions, there are no wrong answers here! 🫂🩷
Series V is also my favourite which is hardly a controversial opinion but that's because it's just that great. The tone, writing and performances are just excellent all round. Also it's sexy in a dark way.
Series 2 is a close second though despite being so different tonally. It's poignant and builds beautifully upon Series 1 to really establish these characters in our hearts.
Let's be honest, we all know why season 5 is my favourite and I'm not even going to defend myself at this point.
Once you start thinking about humans as a species in a biome, it affects your entire way of looking at normal things.
The other day I referred to female morning joggers as an 'indicator species' in that if you see women jogging in the dark it means that the environment provides migration pathways (sidewalks, clear signs) and doesn't have any known predators of female morning joggers (guy with knife, bear, BigTruck, male morning joggers).
Though, I think that people consider framing humans as animals reacting to their environment as rude.
I would absolutely without question watch a David Attenborough documentary talking about humans and their behaviour the same way he explains animal behaviour.
