reminder to self shippers that you don’t even need to be in the social circles for the community. you don’t need to be on self ship tumblr or twitter 24/7 to self ship, you can do it with a small little group of friends or all on your own. you don’t need to share everything, you can be private and still just as valid and loved as anyone else. sometimes online spaces can be scary or harmful, you don’t need to be too involved in them if you can’t find any positive feeling in the culture of it. some benefit off of how things are in the community, and some don’t…and it’s okay if you want to be more reserved or do things in your own peace. you can do that, y’know, be in your own space and enjoy what makes you happy in your own way.
an extra note, this post goes out the most to selfshippers of color who dont feel safe in what has been built as the community. many can relate to this post in a different way but i see it every day with my own eyes, and as i said some people benefit off of how the community is and some people have to fight for their peace every day. so yeah, you can just be in your own little bubble if thats how you find your peace. we cant fix how it is, with the way things are now, but we can protect ourselves and find spaces between each other. i’m not saying to ignore it all and stay ignorant, this is for the people who’ve tried to make their space and are tired of fighting for it. its okay, youll find your peace.
