What are actually fun things I should put on a wedding registry we have all the gd plates we need and we’ve run out of ideas

if you can think of anything inexpensive, throw it on there. i'm 31 so all of my friends are getting married and i am so so broke so i'm always thrilled to see something on their registry i can afford. obviously i'm not obligated to get them a gift, but i like to! i think people avoid things that seem too "basic" but a few months ago i got my friends a $12 spatula set off their registry. it was just 2 regular spatulas. i guess they needed spatulas. made me happy and now they have spatulas.

Things to put on a registry that are not plates:

  • high-quality (not the same thing as expensive! Check out consumer reports for recommendations) and/or pretty replacements for things you use every day but are getting worn/were kind of crap to begin with. Spatulas, can openers, and other cookware. Pillowcases and sheets. Pens. Cute dish and hand towels. The high quality means it will last a long time, you will think fondly of them, and also you can also send them a text very time you use Auntie's duvet cover or cousin's spatula which is like sending thank you notes but better.
  • you can also do this for something that gets used at least once a year, like camping equipment or a Christmas decoration. The point is that the object makes you think of and reach out to the person in question.
  • People love getting something for you that you will hang on your wall. Put some picture frames on the list and put a picture of whoever gets them in one and hang it up.
  • If you have pets, put pet stuff on that list. Grandma will be thrilled to get pictures of mr. Kitty playing with the toy or miss puppy in the bed she bought
  • A few maybe more expensive but EXTREMELY SENSIBLE items. Dads and Uncles in particular love getting you a really good vacuum cleaner, or set of home repair tools. Less expensive but similar options include kitchen fire extinguishers, plungers, a carbon monoxide detector or one of those tools you use to clean out the dryer vent or a clogged sink.
  • If either of you use mobility aids or other disability assistance devices, PUT THAT SHIT ON THERE. A friend had a really nice keyboard for her hands effected by her joint issues and I was DELIGHTED to get it for her.
  • Weirder one but if you have a yard/garden, you can put perennials on there and then that's Grandpa's Rosebush or cousin whoever's apple tree and again, its presence keeps that person in your lives.
  • A free option for your truly broke friends and relatives, ESPECIALLY if you've got someone determined to make something handmade for you: one of my cousins had "pictures of yourself and your family for a photo album" on her registry, and her sister made her the album.
  • If you have tech-savvy friends and relatives, you can ask them for digital copies of their favorite shows and movies for your household server or laptop you watch movies on. Those also tend to be low-expense for those who know how to get them 🏴‍☠️
  • For less tech savvy friends and relatives,.you can ask for box sets of the same
  • If you have arts and crafts friends and relatives who want to make you something "a SMALL Good luck charm to put by the door or in the kitchen" is a good choice to limit the expense and scale but still allow them to make and give something deeply meaningful to you.

We literally cannot let them start charging 80 dollars for video games 70 dollars was already outrageous 60 was pushing it. 80 fucking dollars. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR DAMN MIND. For MARIO?!?!?!?!?

If we don’t buy it, they’ll lower the price, just like the 3DS. They make more money from 2 million people buying it at $60 than 1 million at $80

look I understand why people would be compelled by the amulet, but that’s just not the kind of thing I would do. if I had the amulet it wouldn’t even effect me even slightly. actually, if you hand over the amulet right now right this second I can prove to you how uneffected I will be. just for a second
