Happy pride month to all queer people except that one gay dude who noticed that i was in a hungarian lgbtq group on facebook and told my stepfather because he knew him, who (thank fucking god) had no idea what it meant and just told my mom, who made me leave it
Rule number one of solidarity is that you stay fucking quiet no matter what and who it is about. Not sure it's safe to mention or if the person in question is out and accepted? Living in a country hostile towards queer people? You ZIP IT. This could have gotten me in so much fucking trouble if they were just a tiny bit worse than they actually are. Yeah like i didnt know what to make of it for a long time. My most well intentioned guess is that he was concerned that i was on there with my real name? But even then, he handled it by treating me as my parents' property (no doubt since i was underage, which a lot of people on there were) and doing to me exactly what being on there with my real name is risking. What was the fucking point? I don't know because he never messaged me and i still don't know who he is.

and my personal favorite:

i think what bothers me about a lot of "girl power" narratives is that they function on the implicit idea on the idea that women can become worthy of respect. and i happen to think that really caring about women means believing they already are worthy of respect. that historical seamstresses and soccer moms and forgotten sisters and sweet polite little girls and someone's weird grandma matter just as much as the warriors and politicians, even if they, personally, never accomplish anything "cool."
