My life is a Greek comedy

@sprucestairs / sprucestairs.tumblr.com

My icon is off-center on purpose, and totally not just cause I can't be bothered to fix it

Hi

Im Spruce

it/ he/ byte/ void/ any other neos

I'm just kinda here. I like minecraft and pokemon. Also a bunch of other stuff.

I may look like I know about greek mythology but don't be fooled: it's all the hades games, percy jackson, and epic.

Happy pride month to all queer people except that one gay dude who noticed that i was in a hungarian lgbtq group on facebook and told my stepfather because he knew him, who (thank fucking god) had no idea what it meant and just told my mom, who made me leave it

Rule number one of solidarity is that you stay fucking quiet no matter what and who it is about. Not sure it's safe to mention or if the person in question is out and accepted? Living in a country hostile towards queer people? You ZIP IT. This could have gotten me in so much fucking trouble if they were just a tiny bit worse than they actually are. Dude could not have known whether i was gonna get beaten to death or not

Yeah like i didnt know what to make of it for a long time. My most well intentioned guess is that he was concerned that i was on there with my real name? But even then, he handled it by treating me as my parents' property (no doubt since i was underage, which a lot of people on there were) and doing to me exactly what being on there with my real name is risking. What was the fucking point? I don't know because he never messaged me and i still don't know who he is.

This happened in rural hungary. Not quite one street village hungary, but Conservative small-ish town hungary which is bad enough. The group was secret for a reason, a girl i went to school with invited me

Now that gay rights are being talked about in hungary. Still fuck this dude

this is a confession to the star wars fandom because I have to get this off my chest. last summer just for fun I taught myself to read aurebesh and. you fanartists have Got to Continue putting the most Hilarious stuff into the background of your art because it is literally my favorite thing

here’s a couple of excellent things I’ve read since I started keeping a list just last month:

- “I hate drawing lightsabers”

- “Idk what to put here”

- “stupid fucking sign”

- “eat paste, it’s good”

- an entire news article on a phone screen which I actually found really impressive

- a few funny misspellings but the best one so far was ahsoka somehow becoming “asock”

- wanted poster of obi wan that read “wanted for fashion crimes”. the caption translated it as “wanted for high treason”. like blatantly lying to my face. love it.

- door on a ship was labeled “cake storage”

- “shopping list: frogs, hair gel, lightsaber polish”

and my personal favorite:

- “if you’re reading this you’re a fucking nerd”

i think what bothers me about a lot of "girl power" narratives is that they function on the implicit idea on the idea that women can become worthy of respect. and i happen to think that really caring about women means believing they already are worthy of respect. that historical seamstresses and soccer moms and forgotten sisters and sweet polite little girls and someone's weird grandma matter just as much as the warriors and politicians, even if they, personally, never accomplish anything "cool."

Jeanne Villepreux-Power, the inventor of the clear glass fish tank was a dressmaker before she married and had the free time and energy to devote to her passion for marine biology. But not just any dressmaker – a really good dressmaker. Being a dressmaker was different from being a seamstress; it was like the difference between owning a couture house and being a stitcher for one. You had to start out as a seamstress, but by the time you hit dressmaker, you had reached the top of the occupational ladder

She literally designed a wedding dress for a princess at one point

And yet articles about her always phrase it like "from being JUST a MERE SEAMSTRESS she ascended to the REAL WORK OF SCIENCE!!!"

what are you guys’ most “tumblr is a website” moments

off to a great start everyone

i’ve been reading the tags all day i truly cannot pick a favorite so here’s more

the biggest scam tumblr pulls is all the people who come here convinced they want to be tumblr famous

the best experience you can have on tumblr is goofing around with your mutuals and one of the worst experiences is having a post with 20k+ notes.

where can I meet this guy’s wife

How do these loser redit men get these incredibly talented and fascinating women lmao

THIS MAN’S GIRLFRIEND MADE HER OWN LOOM TO WEAVE PERIOD ACCURATE FABRIC AND HER ASSHOLE BOYFRIEND DIDN’T EVEN BOTHER TO LEARN THE NAME OF THE CLOTHES SHE WAS MAKING WITH IT HOLY SHIT I AM LIVID

Ooh I hope she leaves his ass

honestly I thought this woman was gonna be in an animal costume 24/7 or something. turns out it’s just a toga, which okay kinda weird I guess, but if I loved her I wouldn’t care. So I guess this guy doesn’t love her.

Not me needing to know if she was wearing a chiton, peplos, or himation so I can picture the scene accurately.

Either way, flames. On the side of my face

*gordon ramsey at a kink party voice* cockwarming? you call this warm? it's bloody burnt that thing is. you've cremated it, it's naught but fucking ashes! *turns around and sees a pup* for fucks sake there's animals in the kitchen too. he's got fucking paws and he could cook a cock better than you

Guys I just refreshed the site and everyone's profile pics went round

someone could probably make a "who do you think took your boobs?" edit out of this with discord making its server icons squarer

We need happy and wholesome nice queer representation to remind us that being queer doesn't doom you to a short life of loneliness and misery and we need fucked up and toxic queer representation to remind us that queer people are human beings who are messy and complicated and are not required to be beacons of moral goodness
