i think rickrolling is the only meme that gets objectively funnier with age. in 2009 you learned to anticipate it but in 2019 it happens just infreqently enough that i fall for it every single time
like people still make rage comics and doge jokes and shit but it’s always ironic (the real punchline is that you’re using an outdated format) or more in line with modern absurd internet humor. rickrolling is the only meme i can think of that’s been the exact same for a full decade- click on a link thinking you’re getting something else, get rick astley instead, and it’s still consistently funny
the more time passes the more foolish you feel for falling for a rickroll as well. Like darn I learnt about this prank 10+ years ago how did I just fall for it now,
Plus, as far as memes go, turns out it’s still incredibly popular
Nooope. Nope, you can’t get me. I’m not clicking on that link and you can’t make me.
I am a fool for clicking
it’s honestly so, so fascinating—here’s a graph I found that estimates how many people have been rickrolled in the past decade!
One of the rare times where a comment section is delightful the moment I open it
Can we please have more Peach? ♡♡

Genius
I love it when pets do the thing where they've clearly figured out that certain steps result in an outcome, but they can't quite DO it themselves.
The cat understands that their food is in this container, and that their human gets it, and brings it to the dishes, and then there's food.
But having no thumbs has prevented them from their triumph.
I on the other hand love that he insists on using the bowl even though he could probably just rip/chew a hole in the bag.
Which indicates that he's probably not quite sure WHICH of the steps are crucial so he's earnestly repeating them all.
(kids do this too - it's called overimitation and there are experiments on it.)
An attempt was made.
@raeseti do NOT let Priscilla see this

Wait
This a real episode?
No, but it was inspired by this bit:
the average rap battle has nothing on people who are still deeply in love after twenty years
Zelenogorsk is sand bathing
Zelenogorsk is sand bathing

holy shit bronze age pro sheep bone gamer girl
this is hilarious but also im gonna cry like this teenage gamer died and they buried her with her high score. no one took back the pot or divided it up because no one would play against her again. her family and friends buried her with her wins. im crying
The scenes at the refuge school with Hot Sauce's gang are some of my favorite parts of Nona the Ninth. They are kind of the entire point of the book to me. We spend the book slowly learning what John did and simultaneously seeing the result. These children, who have been displaced for most of all of their short lives, trying their best to live and play and grow up while multiple existential threats bear down on them. Their lives are the cost of John's endless spiteful expansion. Them and billions of other children growing up hungry and traumatized. It's a cost John has never had to see. However much he might think he understands the consequences John has never sat with a girl covered in burn scars or offered a homeless 12 year old a turpentine soaked rag because he might be able to sell it, or watched a boy walk away knowing his entire family was likely going to die fighting for a freedom that might never come. But Nona has, and she loved them and was loved by them. And now at least some part of Alecto remembers those children and I don't know exactly what that's going to mean but I know it will mean something.
