Okay, but really now - let me tell you about Starfall!

Starfall is a fantasy audio drama about the Carouvel Traveling Acting Troupe - a group of performers who use magical illusions to make their shows come to life.

It's also about Leona, a woman with a giant sword and a mysterious past, who joins this troupe while seeking to build a new life for herself.

It's also about Fel, a purposefully upbeat stagehand who would do anything to make anyone happy, and Dalyn, an actor who burned out in his old life and keeps up walls a mile high, and Aksol, a crafter of magical items who's never belonged anywhere but with other creative obsessives, and so many more in this big beautiful ensemble, all of them played by the most incredible cast a show could ask for.

It's a story that takes our troupe across the map of a fictional empire, built on the history of 12 once-distinct kingdoms, as they deal with everything from monster crabs from the faewoods to theater ghosts with a litany of complaints to corporate inspectors with no love for the arts - all while still trying to put on a good show.

It's an adventure with creative sound design, and a heartfelt story about getting to find out and decide who you are, and just something made with a lot of love from everyone involved.

There's one full season out already (Halloween bonus episode included), and a second season coming in the new year, and I can't wait for everyone to see what it's been building to!

Jumping on the bandwagon, I made one of those "how many have you heard out of 100" list challenges, based audio dramas I like:

“whatever the fuck these two characters had going on” is a vastly underrated character dynamic

“Weird about each other” is how I’ve always put it. It’s my favorite thing.

I love you emotionally closed off/distant/reserved characters who are SO full of feelings and love but have trouble expressing it or just dont want to, I love you you are everything to me

We're adapting Frankenstein next year, and we want to cast entirely Trans VAs! All roles are paid $35/hour of recording time. No previous VA experience required! We're using this call to form a roster to cast specific characters from.

Summary:

Starfall is a fantasy audio drama about the adventures of the Carouvel Traveling Acting Troupe - a theatre troupe that uses magical items to create illusions for their shows as they move around the Falstenian Empire. The story begins as the troupe is joined by Leona, a young warrior with a mysterious past and even more mysterious powers. With their new guardian in tow, the troupe traverses the continent, encountering the dangers of humans, fae, and greater forces alike, all while still trying to put on a good show.

Costume Designer Catherine Zuber, who has been nominated 15 times for a Tony Award (and has won 8 of them, including her nomination for Moulin Rouge!) created about 300 costumes for the spectacular musical.

The artisans at Parson’s Costumes in NYC have been known to create 793 unique pieces for the show by translating Zuber’s illustrations.

Although rooted in turn of the century Belle Époque fashion, the designs embrace contemporary influences, making concessions for a modern score and choreography.

From the colourful Can-Can skirts worn by the dance ensemble, Satine's crystallized corset, and the hand-painted costumes inspired by the artwork of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, every piece is truly a labour of love.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I hope everyone has been taking care and keeping warm. We got about 70 cm of snow last week followed by very cold temperatures, so this week has had us all bundled up. Hoping for some slightly warmer weather soon!

@midnightburgr Chapter 43 - Adventure: I love the Mucklewains and all their personas for dealing with different situations, and now we have a whole episode of them in an Indiana Jones AU? Absolutely incredible! Very curious about who these baddies are afraid of, who can't they kill? Sounds like the gang are in something of a no-win scenario going to in to this confrontation with the Benefactor...but Gloria's plan, whatever that is, will work right? Right? 🍔

@starfallpod Act 1 Scene xx: It was very fun hearing the troupe members do different tasks than they normally would. Then Hestren (who I love so much) appearing from out of the blue to take Leona (and Fel) to a fey party! Whew, those two were not happy. I'm so glad they were able to work through their conditioning to accept what was in front of them, though there's a lot they're going to have to deal with there... Very curious about two things. 1. What is up with that fey recognizing Leona's sword? 2. What terrible things did Aldwen see in Leona and Fel's future??? ✨

@vestaclinicpod Episode 18 - Temporising Measures: AMC, did you deliberately try to make us cry in the first 5 seconds? Because definitely it didn't work... 😢 Sec helping Faye hide-but-not-delete the messages from her ex is very sweet. It was really cool hearing Rai work through the different options for baby NOSL11. And man, what a heavy conversation for Faye and NOSL11 to have! A good and necessary one though.⚕️

@pasitheapowder Bonus Episode! Meditations in an Emergency: An incredible surprise!! Molly Olguin appeared to tell us about her upcoming book of short stories and to read an excerpt from it (my copy has been pre-ordered)! And then because Molly and Jackie are so wonderful, we got a little bonus Pasithea story!! Just hearing the intro music had me feeling emotional. No spoilers, but it was so sweet and had my head racing with ideas and questions. Then we got another surprise!! New Annie Moriondo Pasithea track!! I was grinning for a solid hour after all that!! 💙

@kingmakerpod Chapter Twenty-Seven - Colette's Inferno: Oh. My. Goodness. That was hilarious. IW&C tripping balls; Colette having a bisexual, existential and moral crisis; Eisen ending up with a finger...all absolutely fantastic. And then there were the bits of additional Telesphore lore! Some dark stuff... And the usual scheming from Holzmann and Culver. I think it's going to be fun hearing them more directly pitted against each other! 💎

@forgedbondspod - Chapter 9: A few final conversations before the wedding! Hades and Persephone's very emphatic reaction about Hermes was so funny. "So incredibly gay!" I do hope Hephaestus attends the wedding - I think if she does, there will be some interesting interactions... 💍

@monkeymanproductions' Waiting For October S1 Episode 5 - Home Again: Back in our world, Yvonne and Karo have a heavy conversation but definitely a needed one. It was interesting to understand more from Vonnie's perspective how she was getting pulled into Karo's story. More backstory from both of them! I was also wondering about Karo and what kind of monster they are, but I wasn't expecting the answer we got! 🎃
