a riverdale hater is aligned with the right politically because they fear and mock what they do not understand, pushing aside those who try to help them see the light. they do not seek to learn or to liberate themselves from the padded cell of shame that they have come to view as security because they are afraid what they will discover about themselves when they enter archie's beautiful bisexual world
riverdale was not great because it asked what if everyone was gay. what if two girls who have never felt at home in their bodies or their (heterosexual) relationships were intergalactic soulmates the whole time. what if the homophobic cop and bigoted uncle were secretly together and got murdered by betty’s ex-half brother while cruising for a third. what if the ex-half brother was a cam boy criminal gay married to her real half brother fbi agent. what if the mommy issues caricature was a dominatrix and tormented her daughter because she had been taught that her own same-sex tendencies were “impure”. IT WAS GREAT BECAUSE THEY STILL FOUND THE TIME TO QUEERBAIT.
no one could ever make me hate archie andrews he just wants to hang out with his pals and be bisexual and say hoo wee mama ! and he is punished for this by his dad being shot and murderers and cults targeting him and his friends and going to prison (framed) and being attacked by a bear and beefing with his gf’s mafia dad and going to war

after rewatching it like a million times in a row just now, i think the argument in 8x09 might be one of my favorite buddie scenes, actually. it just displays so blatantly how well eddie knows buck, the good and the bad, and how much he loves him even through hurt and anger.
eddie is mad, he is so mad, and he lays out some of buck's biggest character flaws, not to hurt buck, but to get them communicating. he doesn't want buck not to be pissed at him or suppress how he feels, he just wants buck to be honest about it. and then buck admits he's having trouble with eddie leaving and eddie no hesitation confirms he feels the same, and accidentally exposes what's been in his head, that he's choosing between buck and chris, that this is a choice that hurts him to make. because he loves buck.
and eddie is still mad but here buck makes his sweeping gesture, you don't have to choose, he is your son and you need to be with him. and eddie's emotions are all over the place he doesn't have time to process a thing he's just slapped in the face with how much buck loves him, how much buck loves chris.
the whole scene illustrates so clearly, through it all eddie sees buck, loves him to his core, no matter how frustrating he gets the love and knowing doesn't waver. and, of course, buck doesn't let him forget, he loves him right back.

feeling some type of way about eddie explaining the things buck says to people. “buck was on the pier when the tsunami hit so he’s kinda obsessed with natural disasters.” “he takes christopher there all the time, got the place memorised.” it not only shows how much eddie listens to buck and cares about him, but it’s also him actively trying to get other people to do the same. this is why buck is telling you this, this is why it’s important to him, this is why you should listen to him. pay attention to him. care. it’s obvious how much that’s going to mean to buck, someone who came from a family where he had to fight to be cared about. and eddie does it effortlessly. he cares so much and he wants other people to care too. and like, we know buck will take any excuse to talk about eddie, and this is kind of eddie’s way of doing the same. his way of telling people what he knows about buck by elaborating on what buck says. i know why this is important to buck and i’m going to tell you because he deserves to be heard. it’s all very sweet.
people who don’t think buddie is going to happen at this point are like space aliens to me because what do you think WILL happen?? eddie is going to get another girlfriend and say :) oh excuse me Lisa, sorry, i need to take this facetime call from my friend buck. yes i know it’s the middle of our dinner date and this has already happened twice this evening but what if he stubbed his toe? i saw that in afghanistan, he might need my help.
