remember how last time i talked about jewel and tangle and their friendship i made that comic about when mimic shapeshifted into jewel and mentioned how i think tangle feels guilty about a bunch of shit that's happened to jewel because she fancies herself a protector, a shield to a fragile friend
Yeah. Come to think of it... in the comics almost everything Tangle does is for someone else, or to help someone else. I don't think she's done a single selfish thing, ever.
well, no, i can promise you she did at least once when they went on the first diamond cutters mission and it was Going to be a stealth mission but she was having too much fun. arguably the naming of the diamond cutters was also a selfish thing she did, but again, that's iffy because there's also the idea that you think you're doing something to help someone else but you're wrong. ect ect.
ANYWAY. to your point, a lot of the things she does is for other people. she fights for other people, she runs to save them, she wants everyone safe, but she can't do everything. she can't help everyone. and she has those that are the most important to her -- jewel and whisper in particular.
i figure it's these two specifically [thank you anniversary and annuals], and i think if she had to choose, to a certain degree, it would be them first. and between them two, i like to think she'd choose jewel
Oh dear God don't make her choose between Jewel and Whisper - that would break her. Which raises another question, how would Whisper feel if Tangle chose Jewel over her? To know that no, she's not as important in Tangle's eyes as someone else? And if we go with the not-so-noncanon-canon that Tangle and Whisper are dating, how does that affect their relationship?
Whisper seems to be extremely loyal, I think that in her eyes Tangle is the single most important person in the world, and to realize that no, she's not as important to Tangle would put some serious strain on their relationship. And if Whisper got hurt, no matter how apologetic Tangle might be, I don't see Whisper ever forgetting that Tangle chose someone else over her.

The whole power imbalance might be a problem - after all, if you're wronged by surge, and I do mean wronged, you have the ability to take revenge on her by abusing your power.

"Kids are cute 'n all," Honey said, "But I'd lose my shit if I had to deal with my own little gremlin 24/7. It's just not for me."
Blaze sighed, "The thought of motherhood has crossed my mind several times...but everytime I find news ways that it fails to appeal to me. I'm sorry, Amy. But you are alone on this one."

The magazine shows a photograph of Surge from the back, it's impossible to see her face. She is holding Sonic by the shoulders and is leaning over him, Sonic having his usual smug face. The magazine caption reads:
WILD TENREC TAMES SONIC!? The article is almost entirely supposition and leading questions, but it seems to be suggesting that Surge and Sonic are secretly having an affair.
"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!!!!!!!!" Surge roared as Sonic laughed his ass off.
"WHO THE FUCK WROTE THIS??!! I'M GONNA WRING THEIR NECK OUT!!!"
Sonic couldn't even make a quip or anything. He was too busy choking on his own laughter.
