Being a weird little girl as a kid provides two options to you: becoming transgender or becoming a weird adult woman. Both of which are things the world needs more of
^what he said
"One doesn't need to make things unnecessarily complicated at the outset. He who raises his right arm at a slant forcefully and repeatedly while standing on a political stage at a political speech in front of a partially extreme right public is performing the Hitler salute. There is no need for 'allegedly' or 'similar' or 'debated'. The gesture speak for itself, it is documented on video. Whoever then wants to reinterpret it, whoever doesn't want to see (i.e., refuses to recognize) the Hitler salute, does so on their own behalf."
(sorry I am really bad at translating but this is roughly what it says, for my non-German speaking mutuals)
about to say something mean but i feel like every "male-specific" issue is something that also happens to women its just that a lot of you dont seem to see women as people
women are also feeling lonely and alienated from communities en masse women are also expected to stifle their mental health for the sake of perfomance at work, in relationships, for children ect women are also expected to work extremely hard to maintain a perfect body and perfect health and are punished for being fat/having hair loss/having health issues especially those that affect ones sex life women are also insecure women are also neglected by parents and teachers and authority figures women are also scrutinized for having emotions and punished for not meeting the gendered expectations of our class and expected to climb upwards and overcompensate while being punished for signs of poverty and we get the added bonus on top of, yknow, being women. your emotional issues are not a Crisis Attacking Manhood theyre the way our society is fucking built you just dont see women as people
we should be getting iced coffee and going to creepy and musty antique stores together why must we be separated by our screens…

So basically, Dolly the sheep was an accident. They were trying to clone sheep cells, and they ended up unintentally generating an embryo, which turned out to be viable, hence we got Dolly.
The method they used proved unsuccessful in primates, and the risk of cloning primates (and thus humans) outweighs the benefits (because there really aren't any real benefits, scientifically speaking), so they don't do it.
Where it's most likely to be used is in agriculture, cloning livestock embryos.
What they use cloning for is stem cells. Cloning adult cells to create stem cells means they don't need embryonic stem cells, which is probably the most important thing that came from cloning research in the past 25 years.
The reason it was so important was that it proved that you didn't need an embryonic cell to clone live animals. The nucleus of an adult cell contains all the DNA you need to clone, because Dolly was cloned from an adult cell, which was previously unheard of. Now they know that adults cells can be reprogrammed back to an embryonic stage, and was a major breakthrough for stem cell research.
So basically, we don't hear about cloning anymore because they aren't doing anything that is so exciting it will capture the world's interest, like Dolly did. But it was a major scientific breakthrough that is still very important.
One of my favourite cloned animals is Kurt, a Przewalski's Horse who was cloned from the preserved samples from a horse that died in the 90's so that he can hopefully introduce some additional genetic diversity into the Przewalski's Horse population. Oh hey there's actually two clones of this one horse now, the second one is Ollie who was born last year. Kurt is now about four years old. Last I checked he was at the San Diego Zoo.
We don't tend to clone animals that are more common because we already have a very efficient machine for making sheep, it's called sheep.

The lack of video content is what kept us here... I thought we all agree that the best feature of this hellhole was and always will be anonymity.
Tumblr's not asking for my phone number. It's not going through my contacts to try and connect me with my fucking colleagues. I can come here and talk about whatever I want without anyone ever seeing my face or hearing my voice. I don't have to censor myself and hide my interests or enthusiasm out of fear of consequences it might have in my real life.
I think the biggest misunderstanding they have of Tumblr is that they think of it as a social media platform when in actuality it's a blogging platform with social features.
I like the use of Metroman here because if there's one thing Tumblr users collectively agree on it's that we want everyone to think we're dead
Cant stop thinking about this comment under a video about stardew valley rabbits foot drops
I fucking hate the fear mongering over commercial dog foods, as a client I was in with today took that fear mongering to its (il)logical conclusion and was feeding their dog white rice, peas, sweet potato and boiled chicken or ground beef. I asked if the dog was also getting any regular dog food.
"Oh, no, there's things in that. It's bad for them."
This dog has unintentionally lost 3 pounds, 15% of its body weight, in 3 months. The owner looked shocked/confused when I said that the food was not nutritionally balanced and was missing many vital nutrients. I asked where the dog's source of calcium was and that's when it seemed to sink in.
Told the owner that if they really are determined to go the home cooked route that they MUST consult with a veterinary nutritionist, but that dog food is not going to hurt her dog. My dog is 13 and on food food, albeit a prescription limited ingredient one. My cats made it to 19, 18 and 16 on Science Diet.
You know how it is with spaghetti
