"Murder on the Orient Express" with the Batfamily (2/8, keep reading)
I gotta tell you about this dream I just had
There was a very prestiguous event, a type of olympic games but for songs (in rl I'm aware of Eurovision, in my dream apparently not). Britain's entry was a whole orchestra conducted by Mr Bean. It was legitimately good. At one point Mr Bean plays an instrument too, a tiny piano that fit into a toy sized chest. But that produced techno music so he decided to distract them with the cute: he called for his dog. I guess in my dream Mr Bean has always had a dog, a Jack Russel terrier. There was a TV sequence where people all over the country were looking for his dog and it was found by the two detectives from ....Disco Elysium. Just found, mind you, a TV presenter fetched it to bring it to the studio. It was hiding in a motorcycle helmet.
Because Harry and Kim now broke into the house of the person the bike belonged to. Inside they had to carry tons of grocery bags so they decided to use a ridiculously long handlebar to carry them all at once. Now you as the player had to put in how much weight Harry would try to carry, the max being 300 pounds. But you couldn't see how much Kim would contribute until you finalized your input. Both went for 300. it turned into a balancing minigame with Harry fighting for his life not to lose face in front of Kim, clearly struggling with every step.
Inside the house they discovered that the owner was out, but presumably only for a little while because he had a mealprep session going on in the kitchen. So Hatry started to cook a meal for himself and Kim and then they decided to hang out and watch TV. They didn't notice when the owner came back, it turned into a standoff in the kitchen....and then I woke up.
What the hell, brain?
Me and the mutual I pulled by being actually I have no idea why they followed me but I'm glad they did
Ao3 version that lets you open the 'director's cut' where I, the author, explain every detail in excruciating detail to you and what it is in reference to.

Been doing these quick drawings of rogues
vinyl!!!!!!!!
usual antics
Seriously this dynamic is so funny though. Barry would absolutely not put up with him to this extent and it's weird but even though Dan threatens him with violence and locks him in the car trunk he is also genuinely concerned with his safety.
Honestly my Deviltricks opinion is that James reforms BECAUSE Dan treats him more as a nuisance than as a dangerous criminal. Barry always treats the Rogues as equally bad no matter what their crimes in an issue are, so you'll get an issue where The Top tries to blow up half the world and then an issue where James steals some money but sneaks it back into the safe when no one's looking and Barry will treat both crimes with exactly the same severity.
I think the moment that James tries to rob a bank in midair but stops when he realizes Sharon is inside and then Dan proceeds to not hand him over to the police because no one was hurt and he didn't actually steal anything is like... the moment that starts the reformation stuff. Barry would absolutely still hand him over to the police. He'd just also arrest Bolt, and then James and Bolt would end up being cellmates.
Trickster Comics Recs
Due to the I think more people need to read him now:
- Fury of Firestorm #24
- Blue Devil #6-9, #19, #21, #30
- Underworld Unleashed
- New Years Evil: Rogues (This is called Rogues (Villains) in the places you're most likely to find it)
- Impulse #14, #15 and #39
- Catwoman (1993) #69-71
- Countdown if you really have to but (and this is the important part) not until after all the rest of these do you understand
Yeah I know he is a Flash Rogue but if you want to understand what I have experienced this last week you need these. You can read Flash appearances later.
- Secret Origins (1986) #41 (the first real Pipster comic and also by the writers of Blue Devil)
Late update:
- Flash (1987) Annual 5 for Trickszard brotp time. It turns out I really like Trickszard brotp time.
I've always thought it odd but oddly fitting that although he is a Flash villain, his best issues are never from a Flash run
Anyway if anyone was wondering I am actually upset about the fact that Flash (TV 2014) portrayed Trickster the way they did because that was why I never checked out the character before. If they had portrayed him as a bisexual gentleman thief who crossdresses to con Captain Cold I would actually be all over that (obviously).
If the Flash TV show had James the age he is in the comics and had his comic characterization he'd probably get shipped a lot with Barry which is in itself not a problem but would cause a lot of shipping discourse.
