i've seen some anons wondering why we're "all against till" and some posts calling the fandom toxic. (this is not directed at anyone personally)
i just wanted to give my two cents before i lay this whole thing to rest:
as a till fan (yes, fan, he's my second favourite member after flake) i understand the implications of his visit to mar a largo in the context of my friends and mutuals. in the current political climate they deserve and have a right to be angry. when the trump administration is throwing people into el salvador simply because they have a tattoo, you wonder why till is there in the first place, with his eels doing down to his legs and his bitte tattoo on his hand. also, you have to pay to get into mar a largo. so he indirectly helped trump.
but do i believe that till's secretly a maga hat wearing nutjob? absolutely not. he has shown time and time again that he hates trump, mocking him at a live show, and allegedly fighting some maga people in louisiana. i have no doubt his left leaning ideals are still intact. i'm convinced the thing was a protest against trump, and certainly wasn't a planned visit. (the impromptu in the caption is a good indicator)
was this a good move though? hell to the fuck no. neither is hanging out in dubai, cutting himself in public and having it filmed by someone with the caption "he'll do anything for me" (god, gross!) or using ai in a music video that could've been amazing. (ik ik, the ai could represent the media making up lies about him, but from a creative and technical pov it just comes off as lazy, personally i would've loved the till mpreg to be hand animated, lord knows i'd gladly do it)
for me, this whole ordeal was a chance to let out some repressed emotions and resentment towards the till that's dragging himself to hell and taking the rest of the band with him inadvertently. not to pull a cheesy 90s sitcom on you, but "this isn't him." it's disheartening to see him go through what is most likely a declining of his mental health, being used as a doll for clout (though he isn't doing much to stop this) and on top of that a midlife crisis that's manifesting itself in a bad way.
it's hard, you know? i mourned the fandom on friday because i didn't know if we would still be around. for a lot of people, this is the straw that broke the camel's back. for a lot of us, it was the breaking point of how patient we could be with till, myself included. i will always admire the guy's humility, creativity and gentleness, but until he gets the rest of himself sorted, i'm not too sure if i want to see him in any photos taken this year for a while. it's just too painful.
i may be grossly misunderstanding things here, but i will say this. you can still love rammstein. you can still like till. there's no one stopping you, especially not me. but all i ask is that you understand why we're talking about this. some of us are worried about him. you can ignore us, you have a right to, but we also have a right to give our say. and personally, in this current time, i can't just let it slide.
and if it helps, i sincerely hope he finds peace soon. for his sake and for the sake of the band.
