Christ on a cracker, The Invisible Man is so good! The shows of today could really learn something about how to make their show first and foremost about, you know, the LEAD? It goes so deep and it doesn’t shy away from the freaky stuff, going deep both on the physical AND emotional level!
Like in episode 111, The Other Invisible Man, where throughout the episode, the characters think they’re chasing another invisible guy - only to find out that there is no other invisible guy, it’s just Darien whose invisibility gland is playing havoc with his brain chemistry because it used to be in some other guy before being implanted into him and that guy’s memories and rage and everything got transplanted with it.
What a WILD RIDE! They have to visit the place where Darien was treated and where his brother died in his arms…
… and then Darien falls through plated glass, basically chasing the ghosts in his head…
… at which point Hobbes, Darien’s partner, starts really freaking out about what that thing is doing to Darien, how it’s messing with Darien’s head. And when the gland and Simon, the guy it belonged to first, take Darien over, Hobbes’ reaction is…
I’m not gonna let you have him, Simon, Fawkes is my friend. He’s got enough on his mind without you and your damn RNA in there adding to his stress. So why don’t you just leave Fawkes alone? Take me.
… and then The Keeper manages to make an antidote but Simon’s not about to go down willingly, he’s determined to take Darien down with him and they have to hold him down to inject him…
… and CHRIST ON A CRUNCHY CRACKER, it’s so GOOD! Like, OMG! I wish more shows today went THAT deep when giving their characters physical and mental issues, especially of the sci-fi kind!
Also, look at how awesome creepy Darien’s Quicksilver eyes are…
Sheesh on a pogo stick, I love this show so much!
