seeing gringos realize that imported products are more expensive is kinda baffling to me like what do you mean this is not the reality everyone was already living on?

cheap imported goods are already a luxury you must know this right? like you know it is thanks to imperialism and thanks to the US brutal oppression of other countries and of its international policies that destroy local economies that you get to have cheap coffee chocolate bananas etc? YOU KNOW THIS RIGHT? it is just very hard to feel for people who are so willfully ignorant none of this should be a surprise to anyone who is an adult with access to the internet you have refused to learn anything i have to laugh i have to giggle i have no other choice

when writing, there is a fine line between research and procrastination. 

to be honest there has never been a fictional character i’ve actually wanted to date. like. i want them to date each other. i don’t want myself as a person to be involved in this scenario whatsoever. what would i add to this narratively? what’s my thematic purpose in the narrative? immersion breaking. 

I love all books but sometimes you read a book and you’re like so were all 21 thousand of you blindfolded and at gun point when you rated it 5 stars

A Short Ask List About Love.

"I did it for you" has gotta be my favorite form of betrayal. You gave me a gift I never asked for, and now I have to look around at the world you destroyed with the knowledge that it was gift wrapped and addressed to me.

a lot of stories treat romance like it makes the relationship between two characters self explanatory and to be honest it doesn’t

story: they're in love :)

me: why?

story: what do you mean? they're in love :)

me: what do they bring to each other's lives? what do they admire about one another? what draws them to each other?

story: love :) :)

me: ok... so what is that going to look like now?

story: like love :) :) :)

me: are their personalities going to clash at all? are they going to have arguments? learn to compromise for each other? will they need to adapt to sharing their life with another person? is it going to be smooth perfect harmony from day one? are they going to be always together? see each other sometimes as their occupations allow? how does this relationship affect their lifes.

story: they're in love :) :) :)

shipping characters who are just friends in canon is more than okay but what’s annoying is when people take screenshots of them touching and say “friends don’t do that!”. i hate to break it to you but friends do hug and hold hands and cuddle. saying ‘friends don’t do that’ is reenforcing the idea that physical touch is reserved for lovers

your writing doesn’t have to be perfect. it just has to make someone feel something.

Self all the way.

I won't discount shopping a manuscript traditionally, if I ever write one I think might sell well in trad, but honestly the lack of control, lack of royalty percentage, and shopping for agents before ever approaching a publisher is already off-putting enough.

So unless the trad industry changes a lot, and changes fairly fast, I don't see myself aiming for a trad contract anytime in the next decade, at least.

writing? oh, i’m definitely writing. in my head. during the most inconvenient times. like in the shower or when i’m about to fall asleep. actual typing? no, no, we don’t do that here.
