i know this is a bit off topic but i wanted to make a bracelet for this guy but no idea how to start. how did you learn to make bracelets? and any tips for someone that just wants to make 1 as a gift?

i actually learned when i was pretty young, my best friend and i went through this whole jewelry-making phase as kids. it’s pretty easy, depending on the technique you want to use! for elastic bracelets (no clasp or closure) you want to get a good strong elastic, but make sure it isn’t too thick for the holes of your beads (if you have really tiny seed beads you need thinner elastic). then after you bead it, you can just knot the two ends together tightly and secure the knot with either a tiny bit of superglue or clear nail polish, and cut the excess.

if you want to make a bracelet with lobster or spring clasps, that’s a little more complicated but still not super hard, it just requires some specific tools (typically a bead crimper and needle nose pliers) so it’s more of an investment. you will also have to get familiar with opening and closing metal jump rings, which is also helpful if you want to add charms to bracelets because a lot of charms come without jump rings (the loop that attaches the charm to dangle). takes some practice but not too hard, you can find good tutorials on youtube. then you can also use sturdier materials like wire if you want rather than elastic!

not sure if you’re in the us or not, but if you happen to be, michael’s has bead sales pretty often so you can get beads for a significant discount, which is good if you’re only making one bracelet β€” jewelry supplies tend to be cheap if you’re working in bulk, but expensive if you’re not! for finding charms i def recommend etsy, you can find such unique stuff
