Info:

Zodiac Rat or Xuan Shu is the first to win the Zodiac Race, he was able to win by catching a ride with the Ox, and once they arrived to the land where the Jade Emperor was in the other side, the Rat jumped down and took first place. With this he was dubbed the 1st General and Leader of the Zodiacs.

Role in the Celestial Realm:

-His main role alongside the rest of the Zodiac is to weave/write the passage of destiny, ensuring that certain events come to pass in a predetermined cycle so that Nuwa would be ready for the End of the Previous Cycle unto the Next.

-His main role in weaving the threads of destiny is the main decisions of Mankind, which range from their Economic Systems to Political Systems to Decisions in War. His job is to ensure that no matter how different the decision was, the main power systems within society remain the same. I.E How the Monarchy Works to how The Trade System works all that jazz.

-As for deciding Individual Fates, Zodiac Rat can only bless and control the paths of Individual Humans if they were born on the Year of the Rat, which goes the same with the rest of the Zodiacs.

-If not tending to his duties as a Zodiac he tends to his duties as the Keeper of War Tactics/Celestial Strategist.

Often times he is called so that two gods or Celestials don’t wage war on one another including Celestials and demons, but if not him then a Celestial under his court.

-Most of the Celestials under him work to revolutionize and evolve the technology in the Celestial Realm hence why most of the Celestials have access to high-level tech beyond mortal understanding. (Ex: Nezha’s Flying Ship) They also handle Political Disputes, Economical Issues and Criminal Cases (Hence why in a hearing with a Constellation or regarding someone like Monkey, Rat is always involved)

-Rat only shows up to the High-Ranking Hearings and Criminal Cases and is the only Zodiac who has that as a consistency. The rest of the Zodiacs either don’t show up or reschedule so Rat pretty much acts as a representative for them.

-When not busy with these two roles he tends to be seen signing digital and physical paperwork on his desk or managing his domain, working with the Constellations not assigned as Guardians for mortals.

Personal Info:

-Despite being the Leader of the Zodiacs, the one who mostly acts as a representative and more often than not speaks FOR Rat is usually Dragon, mostly because Rat doesn’t want to waste any time on insignificant things, doesn’t want to give himself a headache or above all just doesn’t exactly care to speak up.

-The reason for this is mostly because no one takes Rat seriously, mostly because he looks so ‘cute’ then intimidating compared to Dragon. (And because no one takes a Rat seriously)

-Rat used to be patient in his younger years but the amount of ‘Oh you’re so cute!’ Or ‘Yeah Yeah cutie pie’ has made him overly sour about his predicament, plus with the amount of work he has and the migraines he gets he pretty much gave up on people taking him seriously and has a bad temper now.

-One of the people who don’t take him seriously is Monkey, hence their rivalry. Monkey is one of the Zodiacs that is in many ways…blunt. And in a…sort of ‘childish’ way. Zodiac Rat and Monkey constantly fight cause it doesn’t seem like Monkey respects Rat.

-Monkey doesn’t respect Rat.

-As for Rat he can’t stand being disrespected but he also can’t stand Monkey’s personality, even when not being portrayed in the COTS AU, Rat is always bewildered by Monkey despite their similarities in intellect. They oppose each other in intellect when it comes to order and chaos.

-Rat is closest to Ox and Dragon believe it or not. He and Ox have no bad blood between Ox and Rat, frankly speaking Rat did thank him for letting him cross, Ox doesn’t mind since later on in the race Monkey, Goat and Rooster all came up for a tie and have no bad blood between them.

-Rat helps Ox with the construction and technology, buy occasionally when both need rest they treat each other in a bar and just get fucking drunk until Dragon comes to pick them up.

-Dragon and Rat are close because Rat confines in him half the time. Rat earned Snake’s respect as ‘Uncle Rat’ so these guys are friends.

-He’s mega strict, but he’s not cruel. He can seem like it from time to time but he’s a stickler for the rules and most of the time enforces it along with Tiger and Dragon.

-For his Constellations they were made out of wax as Rat would carve little wax statues in his free time and that was the first thing he could actually think of.

-He’s strict with his cons and keeps them in arms length, he knows he’s gonna live for millions of years while the cons live for thousands, plus the cycle will just reset anyway so he doesn’t interact with them that much.

-He prefers playing Go with Dragon and Snake in his free time as well.

-Rat doesn’t have a lot of hobbies since he’s always busy and has to directly answer to the Jade Emperor. He’s also the one regularly checking on him since he’s the leader of the Zodiacs and the Goddess Nuwa decided they should keep watch of the Heavenly Cycle and blah blah blah this job is boring.

-Yes actually Rat hates his job. But he won it fair and square so he’s gonna keep his job.

Think about it we have two villains who turned hero because of this one kid and NOW this kid is going from hero to villain/antagonist.

Honestly the only time Macaque and Redson have been in the same vicinity was when they were coming up with a plan to defeat LBD. And then the last shot of season 5 with the fireworks.

I just want a moment where they're fighting him together or something. And maybe, during the fight, there's some callbacks to when their roles were reversed. Like:
