Or „why you shouldn’t close on Buddie after episode 5”
“The relationship between Buck and Tommy was so present this episode. They sure are a thing. I am convinced Tommy will be Buck’s endgame.”
A few of us might have read stuff similar to that. Some people might even agree though still being Buddie fans while also feeling disappointed and starting to question things, maybe even closing on “our” ship.
So, bear with me, saddle up and let’s get into that whole relationship thing and how this episode was not “closing worthy” at all. Disclaimer: I already posted this on twitter and since there were a lot of people interested in what I had to say, I decided to take the leap and post it here as well, even though certain people might find it... I also edited the text slightly, putting some thoughts others had in to make if feel complete.

it's fucking insane that maddie had everyone visit buck to check in on him and eddie just. waited. waited for buck to come to him. because he knew he'd get overwhelmed and knew he'd find his way to him. he knew not to push or pressure or insist. he just waited and the second buck knocked on his door he didn't question him, just instantly accepted that he didn't want to talk. then proceeded to provide him a safe space by letting him fall asleep on his couch and by softly asking if he was ready to talk about it after he woke up. and this fits right in with what eddie told buck about how chim knew maddie in a different way than buck did. maddie knows buck, of course she does. but it's different than the way eddie knows him. and dear god, does eddie know him. he only opened up about dying to eddie. it's always eddie. and this isn't normal and I'm tired of them being so blind and not realizing it. eddie waited. for buck. and I'm gonna vomit. they need to be together, this is just insanity.

eddie, who made buck his son’s legal guardian, who allowed himself to be vulnerable in front of buck in ways he’s never been in front of anyone else, who gave buck a place, a home for the first time in his life (“it’s eddie’s house, i’m not really a guest”), who coparents his child with buck, who loves buck unconditionally, with everything in him, despite it all, because of it all: i’m a nester. i want to build a life with someone i love. a slow burn. i don’t want a ready made family. i want it with my best friend.
