The Nordics' biggest bank Nordea announced it will not permit its employees to invest in bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

On Monday, Nordea told Reuters news agency that it views cryptocurrency investments as too risky for both its workers and the bank itself.

The ban is set to go into effect on 28 February and will affect all of Nordea's roughly 31,000 employees around the world, the bank said.

The bank said however that it would not force those employees who already own cryptocurrencies to sell them, according to Reuters.
