Finnish evergreen singer Reijo Taipale died on Friday in Helsinki, after several years of illness. He was 79 years old.
Taipale made a name for himself on the Finnish music scene already in the 1950s, specializing in sentimental ballads and tangos. Many of his albums sold over one million copies.
In 2015, Taipale was awarded the Pro Finlandia medal, one of Finland's highest honours presented to respected artists and writers.
