Police in Helsinki fined two people for breaching the no-fly zone around Finlandia Hall on Wednesday, the department announced via their official Twitter account.
Two illegal drone flights were detected in the temporary no-fly zone over the congress and event venue in the capital's downtown area, and fines were subsequently issued to the drone operators.
The exclusion zone has been established due to security arrangements for the meeting of EU delegates, and is in place around Finlandia Hall until 9pm on Friday 12 July.
Earlier this week, the police reported that it was actively monitoring the restricted area and any violations of the air space ban would be immediately detected.
"The penalty is a fine and, in addition, a report of the offence may be forwarded to the state prosecutor," warned Sami Hätönen, Chief Commissioner for Police Operations.
