Helsinki city council on Tuesday said Helsinki Zoo would likely see 100,000 fewer visitors than usual this year, bringing a total of 400,000 people to Korkeasaari island.
The zoo closed this past spring during Finland's coronavirus shutdown but reopened in the summer to initially low visitor numbers, which returned to normal levels by July.
The city's figures assume Finland's coronavirus situation will remain under control to the extent that the zoo can remain open.
Winter is also a popular time to visit the zoo, which is home to over 150 animal species and hundreds of plants from around the world.
