Finns Party MP Mauri Peltokangas has been charged with incitement against a group of people, according to national daily Helsingin Sanomat (link in Finnish).
Vaasa MP Peltokangas told HS that he did not want to comment further on the charge at this stage of the proceedings.
The case is based on "a year-old Facebook post," Peltokangas said. He denies all charges.
Mauri Peltokangas was elected an MP in the last parliamentary election in 2019. He was the Finns Party's front-runner in the Vaasa constituency receiving over 13 000 votes.
This year's municipal elections saw Peltokangas elected to Kokkola's municipal council. He was the council's top vote winner, as the Finns won four additional seats in the municipality.
Last year Peltokangas caused a stir with a Facebook comment in which he branded ministers in Prime Minister Sanna Marin's (SDP) government "pathetic assholes".
