Tampere's new 13,455-capacity arena is to be sponsored by Nokia, after previous sponsor Uros was ditched when it ran into financial problems.

The switch was unveiled at a press conference on Friday morning, with Tampere mayor Anna-Kaisa Itkonen (NCP) saying that she believes Nokia is a trusted brand in Finland and abroad.

The same cannot be said for Uros, which hit the headlines this autumn when creditors started legal action over unpaid bills.

Business Finland also said the company had withheld information when it sought product development funding around a decade ago.

The new arena has not yet opened, but is set to host matches at the Ice Hockey World Championships in 2022.
