President Niinistö meets Barack Obama in Seoul

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö has met with his US counterpart, Barack Obama, at the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul. Niinistö and Obama held discussions during a working dinner arranged by the conference hosts.

Niinistö said afterwards that Barack Obama appeared very well informed about Finland. The President added that Obama, for example, was very well aware of Finland’s good relations with Russia. Both Presidents also discussed the Finnish and European economic situations.

No invitation to the White House was, however, presented to Finland’s new president. Niinistö said contacts across the Atlantic will continue as before on the basis of good relations.
