The last time Finns were shot at in Afghanistan was in April -- then too without injuries.
A group of Finns were on a joint patrol with Afghan security forces on Saturday when they were fired upon twice, about 50 kilometres from their base in Mazar-i-Sharif.
According to the Finnish Defence Forces, the first attack occurred north of the village of Moqorini around 11am local time. The Finns returned fire.
The second incident took place three hours later, when peacekeepers were fired at with handguns and grenades in the village of Nawshar Temorak. It is about three kilometres from the site of the first attack.
In late June a joint Finnish-Swedish patrol hit a roadside bomb, but there were no serious injuries.
Two Finnish peacekeepers have been killed in Afghanistan, most recently last February near Mazar-i-Sharif.
