Decision day looms in labour talks

The leaders of labour market organisations have promised to tell the government by Monday evening whether they want to continue talks on a national agreement over pay and conditions. The main trade union confederations said on Friday that they would take until Monday evening to decide on continued talks.

Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen declared on Friday that his government had been and would continue to be closely involved in the talks.

The government has promised to lower corporate tax more than promised in the government programme as a sweetener. On the employee side, the government has offered an extra employee benefit to be paid during furloughs or temporary layoffs.
