The President of Estonia visits Finland

Estonia’s recently re-elected president Toomas Hendrik Ilves is visiting Finland on Monday. During the trip, Ilves met with President Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen and Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja as well as visiting Parliament.

This is Ilves's second trip to Finland since beginning his second term last week. Ilves also visited Finland in the early days of his first term as Estonia's president in 2006.

On Tuesday, Ilves travels on to the European Parliament in Brussels, and an event celebrating the independence regained by the Baltic countries 20 years ago.

Ilves will be back in Finland again in late October to promote books by himself and his wife Evelin Ilves at the Helsinki Book Fair.
