International Competition Forces Corporate Taxes Down

The Ministry of Finance believes international tax competition will force Finland to reduce corporate tax on businesses. Taxation on consumption would be increased to compensate for the loss in tax revenue.

According to Lasse Arvela, senior official at the Ministry's tax division, a reduction in corporate taxes will help promote economic growth by stimulating investment.

A working group set up to examine tax reform says the level of corporation tax should be reduced by four percentage points.

The group will publish its findings in December.
