Children Plant Trees for Peace around the World

Children from across the world will plant trees on Friday to encourage world peace and environmental protection. Some 1,000 schools in 100 countries will take part in the event organised by Environment Online (ENO). Fifty schools in Finland will be following the occasion online.

The first trees will be planted in New Zealand and in the Marshall Islands. Trees are to be planted in countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. The last trees will be planted in the Samoa Islands.

According to the organisation, trees remind people of nature and the importance of protecting the environment. The tree also represents collaboration between schools, multiculturalism and peace. ENO Tree Planting Day is also part of the International Day for Peace in co-operation with United Nations.

Over 100,000 trees have already been planted during ENO events. This is the fourth time the group has organised the occasion.
