Man Gets 3.5 Years for Killing Police Officer

Kokkola District Court has handed a 3.5 year unconditional prison sentence to a man found guilty of killing a police officer. Last summer, the 20-year-old man ran over the policeman in Kälviä, western Finland.

Furthermore, the man is forbidden from driving for four years. He's also required to pay some 50,000 euros in legal costs and compensation.

The suspect was charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated drunk driving and aggravated endangerment of traffic safety. The prosecutor had been seeking a guilty verdict for murder.
