Sonera announced the decision Tuesday, stating that around half of the 74 former employees had accepted voluntary redundancy packages. The initial prognosis had been that around 100 jobs would be lost.
In addition, 61 personnel were offered the opportunity to move to another place of work or to take up other jobs within the company. This most recent round of lay-offs concerned their mobile technology unit.
The co-determination negotiations had commenced in mid-January.
Sonera also has ongoing redundancy negotiations in their broadband and global technology departments.
The latest round of retrenchments brings the company’s December through March job loss tally to 316.
