Jyväskylä bus operator to dismiss drivers

Bus company Jyväskylän Liikenne, which for years has been running local bus services in the Central Finnish capital, lost a local traffic bid to new low-cost bus company Onnibus. As a result, the company started consultative talks on Monday.

With a 25 November deadline, the redundancy negotiations involve all local traffic drivers and repair shop workers.

Possible rearrangements of drivers’ stations as well as other measures to reorganise work will be considered as part of the talks. At present, it looks like Jyväskylän Liikenne will let go around 175 employees after June.

On Monday the bus company lodged a complaint with the Market Court about the local traffic tendering. It also hit the City of Jyväskylä with a demand for procurement rectification.
