The President and the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy have not yet discussed possible Finnish participation in an EU-planned crisis management operation in the Central African Republic.

Finland’s Minister of Defence Carl Haglund said that if Finland were to take part in such an operation, something between two to three staff officers and a few dozen soldiers at most could be contributed.

Interviewed by Yle on the matter, the Minister and head of the Swedish People’s Party compared an operation in the Central African Republic to crisis management in Afghanistan in terms of its difficulty.
