Finnish peacekeepers come under fire in Bangui

Finnish peacekeepers in the Central African Republic came under fire on Friday afternoon. The soldiers were moving from one base to another when gunmen opened fire. They did not shoot back, and nobody was injured in the incident.

Finnish soldiers were shot at in the Central African Republic’s capital, Bangui, on Friday afternoon. The soldiers are there as part of an EU peacekeeping mission and were moving from one base to another when they were attacked.

The Finnish convoy comprised 11 soldiers and four vehicles out of a total force of 25 personnel. Nobody was injured in the incident and the Finns did not return fire. The Finns arrived in Bangui in May to participate in the European Union’s EUFOR operation.
