Tuska Metal Festival rocks Suvilahti

The Tuska or ’agony’ open air metal festival kicks off in Suvilahti’s industrial environs on Friday. Over the weekend, up to 27,000 metal fans are expected to let their hair down at the event.

According to event promoter Jouni Markkanen, ticket sales reflect the cool weather, with many waiting until the last moment to purchase tickets. All in all, this year’s ticket sales equal those of last year, however.

Metal heavyweights such as Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom and Anthrax will be taking to the stage over the three-day event.

The festival will bring disruptions to traffic around Suvilahti. Parrukatu, for example, will be closed off until Monday afternoon. The Suvilahti field will also be closed from traffic during the event.

Traffic control will re-route Suvilahti traffic over the three days.
