Nokia Networks to acquire US network equipment provider

The Finnish maker of telecommunications equipment says it hopes the takeover of SAC Wireless will help it gain market share in the American network implementation field.

Nokia’s network division announced on Wednesday it has agreed to acquire the US network infrastructure prodiver SAC Wireless.

The Illinois-based company employs 450 staff and has a strong track record working with major telecom operators, Nokia Networks said in a statement.

Nokia hopes the acquisition will allow it to strengthen its presence on the US network implementation market.

The price of the deal, which is expected to be closed in the third quarter of 2014, has not been made public.
