Minister of the Interior Päivi Räsänen has made her first public appearance on Friday after suffering injuries in a two-car accident on Monday.

The minister took part in the Christian Democrats’ campaign briefing on Friday where she sat in front of bright campaign posters with the party’s slogan that read: "Courage to build the future."

Räsänen said the party's main objectives are family, entrepreneurship and safety.

"Our courage is needed in the coming term," she said.

The accident took place when the minister was travelling in the east of the country, toward the Vaalimaa border crossing point on Monday in her official car when it collided with another vehicle. The minister suffered bruising to her chest and abdomen, but her injuries were not severe.
