Finns Party cedes vandalised office

A campaign office on Hämeentie in Helsinki that was repeatedly attacked by vandals is no longer being rented out by the populist Finns Party, according to the company that leased the space.

The Finns Party's Hämeentie office was repeatedly vandalised last fall and this spring. In addition to graffiti scrawled on the outer walls, windows were broken.

Following attacks in September and April, someone anonymously claimed responsibility for the act on the Takku.net community website with a message saying that they wanted: "to make things difficult for the Finns Party in a concrete way".

According to Finns Party council group secretary Marko Ekqvist, the ongoing vandalism was not the reason for the Finns Party's decision to end the rental agreement. He said that with the parliamentary elections over, there was no longer any need for the space.
