On Friday the European Commission also approved the deal, which is worth 15.6 billion euros in stock shares. Finland's biggest business acquisition of all time, the deal should be completed by the beginning of 2016; it sees Nokia buy out rival mobile tech firm Alcatel-Lucent.

American authorities have already approved the deal, as have Nokia shareholders.
