The very cold temperatures combined with a lack of electricity could have caused problems Tuesday morning for thousands of residents in Pori, located on the west coast of Finland.
Regional electricity provider Pori Energia's website says that power was cut off to some 2,000 homes at about 7 am Tuesday morning.
The majority of homes have had their electricity restored, the company reported at about 9 am Tuesday.
As of 9:15 am some 200 households remained without power.
Earlier Tuesday Pori Energia's operations manager Tero Isoviita said electricity would be restored within a couple of hours.
This story was revised to reflect that power had been restored to the majority of households.
