Finn scores winning goal in NHL final

San Jose Sharks forward Joonas Donskoi became an overnight sensation when he scored a decisive goal in overtime during the third match of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night. The feat gave the Sharks the first Final Cup win in their 25-year history.

On Saturday night, Finnish forward Joonas Donskoi saved the series for his team, the San Jose Sharks, scoring on a turnaround snap shot in overtime to give the Sharks a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The game cut Pittsburgh's lead in the Stanley Cup Final to 2-1.

The winning goal also gave the Sharks the first Final Cup win in their 25-year history and it was the first-ever Stanley Cup final home game in Sharks history.

Donskoi, a 24-year old from the small town of Raahe in Northern Finland, has been garnering praise during his rookie season.

Last October, Donskoi scored a goal in his first NHL game, a 5-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings.

The Stanley Cup continues early Tuesday morning Finnish time in San Jose.
