President Niinistö calls Putin, discusses Baltic flight safety and peacekeepers in Ukraine
Finland's President Sauli Niinistö's office says that he spoke on the phone on Friday with Russia's President Vladimir Putin. The statesmen discussed Putin's plan to station peacekeepers in eastern Ukraine, among other things.

According to a press release from the President's Office, the two leaders discussed Arctic cooperation, international relations, flight safety over the Baltic Sea and Putin's initiative to send peacekeepers to Eastern Ukraine.
The two presidents also spoke of bilateral relations between their countries.
Niinistö's office says the call was Finland's initiative.
