According to Finland's Chamber of Commerce more women than ever are breaking the glass ceiling, with 9 out of 125 Finnish stock-listed companies now headed by members of the fairer sex.
The Chamber says the number of female chief executives in public companies has tripled in the past 10 years, and doubled since 2016.
Women are also well represented within company boards, where about 27 percent of members are that of the fairer sex.
"The ongoing increase in the number of executive women shows that our system of self-regulation is effective," says Leena Linnainmaa, deputy director at the Chamber.
"Finland does not need quotas," she adds.
Finnish companies with a female chief executive include Rovio's Kati Levoranta, Marimekko's Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko, Nokian Tyres CEO Hille Korhonen and Sanoma's Susan Duinhoven.
