Now in its 21st year, the annual Christmas fundraiser by Yle, the Finnish Red Cross and the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare managed to put food on the table for some 30,000 families in need of assistance.
The proceeds of the fundraiser were used to provide households with gift vouchers worth 70 euros to be used for food purchases.
Recipients will be able to use the vouchers to stock up on groceries at Finland’s three major grocery chains: S-market, K-market and Lidl.
The theme of this year’s campaign focused on the impact that financial distress can have on young people and their future, in particular.
