After parliamentary elections on Sunday, some 225 municipalities will be left without their 'own' MP.

According to the Association for Local Government, Finland has 309 municipalities. With only 200 MP spots up for grabs, it is inevitable that not every municipality will have a resident elected to parliament.

The municipalities with the largest contingents of MPs are Helsinki with 24 MPs and neighbouring Espoo with 13.

Tampere is the third largest council in Finland by population, and it has 12 MPs in the new parliament. The fourth-largest city, Vantaa, has just four residents elected as MPs.

On the other hand Kuhmo, a tiny town of just 8,000 people in Kainuu, has two MPs who list their home address there.
