South-west Finland MP Sofia Virta has announced her intention to run for the leadership of the Green party.
Several other leading greens have said they are considering a run for the party leadership, but Virta is the first to declare her candidacy.
Current leader Maria Ohisalo announced on Tuesday that she will not run for another term as leader after this summer.
The second-term MP said that she wanted to emphasise economic policy in her approach, along with the diversity of educational and social backgrounds in the party.
"Many have said that they don't feel like they are the right kind of Green — and I myself have earlier struggled with the same kinds of questions," said Virta in a press statement. "Causing people to feel like outsiders is a problem for us as a party and it simply must be fixed."
Meanwhile Iiris Suomela, who lost her seat in the election, has said that she wants to be elected as a deputy chair.
"After a defeat like this there's a need for a combination of experience and new viewpoints, so that we can build a new beginning for the party," said Suomela in a statement.
The Tampere ex-MP had served as one of several Greens who took on leadership duties while Ohisalo was on maternity leave.
The party congress will be held in Seinäjoki this June, and it will elect the new leader and vice-chairs.
